Our History

Sumaq Qara, a Quechua word that means “beautiful leather,” was founded in Ayacucho in 2004 by a couple of tanners who instilled the art of tanning and textile crafts to their daughters Roxana, Elile and Yuli Torres García with the mission of supporting and empower women victims of terrorism and domestic violence, always maintaining the care and respect of nature which provides them with their main raw material.

In Sumaq Qara we seek to work with our clients forming long-term ties, that is why we present ourselves at international fairs in which we expose the new collections and specify orders that will be developed in the rural communities together with our collaborators in Ayacucho.
